CCA’s Homecoming slated for Friday

Festivities for CCA’s Homecoming 2008 will begin Thursday night, October 2nd, with the cheerleaders leading the pep rally. The bonfire and pep rally will begin at 7:00 with several squads performing.

The celebration will continue Friday, October 3rd, as the door and tissue paper signs will be judged and the Homecoming queen and her court will be presented at the one o’clock assembly. Also, to be recognized and honored during the assembly will be the returning classes of ‘79, ‘84, ‘89, ‘99, the class of 2009 and the 2008 Varsity Football team. The returning classes will be recognized during the assembly with a representative from each class speaking. The homecoming pep rally will be after the presentation of the returning classes.

An Alumni Tea, hosted by the seniors of 2009, will be in the high school library, following the pep rally for all returning alumni, family, friends and supporters of CCA.

This year’s Homecoming Queen is Senior Courtney Strops, daughter of Chris Strops and Angie Strops of Brantley. The queen’s little attendants are first graders Rebecca Billings and Preston Owens. Becca is the daughter of Dr. Eddie Billings (Alum. 90) and Daphne Billings of Luverne, and Preston is the son of Paige and Tenise Owens of Luverne . The senior attendants are Austin Richburg and Jordan Bowers. Austin is the daughter of Kyle (Alum. 78) and Sherry Richburg of Luverne. Jordan is the daughter of Bobbie Bowers and the late Ricky Bowers of Brantley. The junior attendant is Jamie Heartsill, daughter of James and Kimmie Heartsill of Highland Home.

The sophomore attendant is Camden Stephens, daughter of Calvin and Michelle Stephens of Luverne.

The freshman attendant is Paige Boswell, daughter of Brent (Alum. 89) and Michelle Boswell of Luverne.

Miss Football, selected by the CCA Varsity football team, is senior Danielle Welch, daughter of Bartley (Alum. 73) and Shelby Welch of Centenary. Little Mister Football is kindergartener Bo Cook, son of Paul and Sherry Cook of Brantley.

Prior to the game, the Alumni Choir will sing the “National Anthem” just before the 7:00 kick-off between the CCA Cougars and the Lyman Ward Rangers. It will be directed by former choral instructor, Mrs. Lilellen Wise. The presentation of the Homecoming Queen and her court will be held at halftime, and following the game an Alumni get-together will be held at the Crenshaw County Recreational Club, from 9 until 1 a.m., with Kyle Richburg’s band performing.
