Do you want to join in the continued fight against cancer and support your favorite team?

Then check out NAPA Auto Parts Stores across Alabama. The stores have special pink hats featuring the logos of three beloved teams – The University of Alabama, Auburn University and Troy University.

Proceeds from the sale of the hats go to the American Cancer Society.

The special hats can also be obtained through American Cancer Society volunteers who live near the three college campuses. “NAPA approached us earlier this year with the idea of creating and selling the pink hats during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we naturally thought it was a great idea,” said Mary Ann Upchurch, state vice president for the American Cancer Society in Alabama.

“The timing is great and football fans are always looking for tasteful hats to wear to the games. We are looking forward to seeing lots of pink hats around all three campuses.”

ACS Community Representative for Butler County, Jessica Garrard, agrees.

“I think every household is going to need at least one of these great hats,” said Garrard.

“What a great way to support both the ACS and your favorite team!”

NAPA store owners put in the leg work and the financial backing to pull the program together.

This year, more than 2,700 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in Alabama, according to figures from the American Cancer Society. Estimates indicate 730 of these women will not live to see 2009.
