It’s homecoming week for Greenville, and the Tigers will be renewing an old rivalry against Andalusia.

“I’m told that this was a good rivalry years ago,” said head coach Ben Blackmon.

Greenville comes into the game with a 2-2 record, and they’ve won their last two games in a row.

Andalusia is 1-3, but Blackmon said that record isn’t a big indicator of their talent.

“They’re one of the better 1-3 teams in the state,” he said. “We could easily be 1-3 right now, too. The reason they’re 1-3 is because they’ve made some mistakes, which is what we did in the first two games.”

As far as Andalusia’s offense is concerned, Blackmon said they are very similar to the Tigers in the scheme they run.

“Their defense is very athletic and fast, and they run well,” he said.

One player that’s bound to come up when discussing Andalusia is senior linebacker Nico Johnson, a highly recruited player who has made a verbal commitment to Alabama.

Blackmon said all the hype won’t affect Greenville’s game plan.

“Nico is a very special player, but he’s just one player,” he said. “We’re just going to get ready like normal.”

Blackmon said the team has to focus on the game at hand and not all the homecoming festivities.

“There will no doubt be a lot of distractions, but we’ve got to keep our focus,” he said.

The homecoming parade is set to begin at the courthouse at 6 p.m. Thursday night, and the game will start at 7 p.m. on Friday.
