Lady Cougars host Lighthouse Christian tonight

The 2008 Lady Cougar Volleyball team has started the season at 9-6. The Cougars are led by senior Courtney Strops. The Lady Cougars are 4-2 in region play and are in second place behind Enterprise Prepatory Academy.

The Cougars run a 5-1 offense with setter Kelly Sasser leading the way. The Cougars run a middle up the defense. The leading hitters for the Cougars have been Coutney Strops, Jasmine Wise, Carmen Tate, and Candice Dunn.

The most consistent servers for the cougars have been Caitlin Mount, Kelly Sasser, and Jasmine Wise.

The Lady Cougars also have been noted for being a good defensive team led by the middles, Courtney Strops and Jasmine Wise. The Cougars’ middle backs, who have done a great job defensively, are Lakan Thomas, Rebecca Sexton, Jamie Heartsill, and Rachel Tatom. The Lady Cougars’ B team is off to a 4-0 start and are led by hitter Lakan Beck and Anna Carver.

“We have really come together as a team and rely on each other,” head coach Michael Malpass said. “This team is fun to coach and has the potential to be really dangerous in October.”

The Lady Cougars host Lighthouse Christian out of Montgomery tonight in a double varsity region match.
