A high-speed chase in Greenville on Wednesday ended in an accident and one man facing multiple felony charges, according to police spokesperson Lt. Anthony Barganier.

Barganier said Greenville patrolmen pursued Reginald Adams onto Aztec Road at approximately 1:45 p.m. after the suspect ran a stop sign at Bolling St.

“The driver of the vehicle failed to stop and continued to accelerate, barely missing oncoming traffic on Aztec Road,” said Barganier.

The brief chase ended with maroon Toyota pick-up truck Adams was driving overturned alongside County Road 22 in Kolb City. Barganier said the pursuing officer was able to force the suspect from the road, causing the vehicle to overturn.

“The suspect then attempted to run into the woods, but was quickly apprehended by Greenville police officers,” said Barganier.

Officers charged Adams, 31, with possession of a controlled substance, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, attempting to elude, two counts of driving while revoked and several other outstanding traffic warrants, said Barganier.

Greenville Fire Department personnel were also called to the scene as a safety precaution against leaking fuel. Deputies with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office also took part in the chase.

An individual who was riding in the suspect’s vehicle was not charged and suffered only minor injuries, according to Barganier.
