Joe Henry Gates, 58, a resident of Hope Hull, died on Saturday, August 30, 2008. Funeral services were held on Monday, September 1, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with Rev. Elwood Sims and Rev. Tim Stewart officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Gates was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Evelyn Gates.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patsy Megginson Gates, son, Joseph Kad (Kim) Gates of Millbrook, daughters, Kim Gates (Gary) Surber of Lowndesboro, Kristy Gates (Chad) Glanton of Columbus, Ga., grandchildren, Bailey, Clay Henry, and Anna Gates of Millbrook, Troy and Emily Surber of Lowndesboro, and Gates Glanton of Columbus, Ga., nephews, Sport and Glenn Megginson, niece, DeeDee Greene, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Pallbearers were George Styles, Jr., Bobby Gates, Jackie Ray Rush, Jimmy Duncan, Chuck Madaris, and Roy Megginson, Jr.
