Laura Haire Thompson, age 98, a resident of Greenville, died July 5, 2008 in Montgomery. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 6, 2008 from the chapel of Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home in Greenville.

The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to funeral services at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

She was born February 4, 1910 to the late John Starling Columbus and Mary Elizabeth Tindal Haire.

She was also predeceased by her husband, Lute Malcolm Thompson Sr.; son Wilbur Earl Thompson; son-in-law,

Guy Winlsow Gibbs; seven brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by: a son, Malcolm (Jean) Thompson of Greenville; two daughters, Betty (Frank) Cardinale of Greenville and Carolyn Gibbs of Montgomery; daughter-in-law, Illene D. Thompson of Huntsville; grandson, Larry Thompson of Huntsville; four granddaughters, Marilyn (Michael) Anderson of Prattville, Alicia (Michael) Fanning of Huntsville, Julie (Tim) O’Connor of Red Level and Mary (Michael) Jones of Tallasee; eight great-grandchildren, Jennifer Anderson of Prattville, John Anderson of Auburn, Bartlett and Dexter Thompson of Huntsville, Griffin and Madison O’Connor of Red Level and Anna and Rachel Fanning of Huntsville. Mrs. Thompson, known to family and friends as &uot;Nana&uot; was loved by all those who knew her.
