Evvie L. Whittington, 97, a resident of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 5, 2008 from the Hopewell Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Gaston officiating and Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Burial followed in Hopewell Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include: daughters, Hellon Knowles and Annie Merle Vickery, both of Greenville; sons, Dale Whittington, Reeford Whittington and C.E. Stonestreet, all of Greenville; honorary son, Dr. Shan Patel of Greenville; sister, Alma T. Bass of Georgiana, five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
