Charles T. Sims

Charles &uot;Chuck&uot; Thomas Sims, age 71, passed away on May 25, 2008.

He was born in Greenville on Jan. 15, 1937.

After high school graduation, he joined the Army where he served as an Airborne Ranger in the 82nd Division.

After leaving the military, he visited the Pacific Northwest and fell in love with its beauty. This was also when he met his wife Sonja.

Chuck was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He was active in Family of Christ Lutheran Church and took pleasure in serving the community.

Chuck was a member of the Masonic Order for 42 years and obtained the Scottish Rite 32nd degree KCCH.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Sonja Sims; daughters, Kimm Baker, Victoria (Lars) Tonnesen; son, Michael G. (Julie) Sims; grand children, Lindsay Ness, Cortnay and Paige Baker, Haydon and Hope Sims, Sara and Lucas Tonnesen; brother, Billy G. Sims; sister, Linda Dillingham. He was preceded in death by sisters, Sue Ridley, Betty Lou Sessions, Anne Henderson; and brother, Harold G. Sims.

Memorial services were held at Family of Christ Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 11 a.m. in Vancouver, Wash. Memorial donations may be made to the Family of Christ Lutheran Church building fund.
