Pamela Kaye M. Stewart

Pamela Kaye Mozingo Stewart, age 44, a resident of Camden, died on Saturday, February 16, 2008, while undergoing cancer treatments in the Grand Bahamas. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008, from Camden Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Cole officiating and Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Stewart is survived by her husband, Eldridge B. Stewart; children, Matthew E. Stewart and Valerie K. Stewart; parents, Robert and Lenora Mozingo; brothers, Robert E. (Vicki) Mozingo, Jr., R. Keith (Reyanna) Mozingo; grandmother, Eva Lou Crocker; in-laws, Bernard and Mary Stewart; brother-in-law, Mike Stewart; sister-in-law, Julia S. (Cliff) Willcutt and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers were Craig Gamble, Van Liddell, Philip Sims, Phil Creswell, Keven Avritt, and Ed Davis. Joe Harold Brazell

Joe Harold Brazell, 73, died Tuesday, February 19, 2008. Chapel services were held at 11 a.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008, at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home with the Rev. Herbert Brown officiating. Burial followed at Sunrise Memorial Park. Mr. Brazell is survived by his wife, Ida Vermell Brazell of Greenville; step-children, Billy Kendricks of Greenville, Bobby Ray Turberville, David Earl Turberville and Sandra Cumbie, all of Excel; sister, Lucy Pickren; nephews and nieces, Donnie Pickren, Tommy Brazell, Joe Pickren, Tommy Brazell, Joe Pickren, Stephen Pickren, Heather Brogdon, Brandon Norris, Stephanie Norris, Jennifer Turberville and Shane Turberville. Alpha Dill Plaskett

Alpha Dill Plaskett, 98, a resident of Greenville,

passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2008.

Church services will be held Monday, February 25, 2008, at 1 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with Father Fred Lindstrom officiating.

Burial will follow at Magnolia Cemetery with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

Family will receive friends Sunday, February 24, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home.

Mrs. Plaskett was preceded in death by husband, John B. Plaskett and sisters, Louise Steele, Bertha Lee Sheskin, Irene Leith, Effie Klober, and

brother, Elmer Dill.

Mrs. Plaskett is survived by sister, Hattie Manasco, and several nieces and nephews.

Fred Buford Stacey

Fred Buford Stacey, age 65, died Friday, February 15, 2008, at Georgiana Hospital. He was a native of Monroe County, Alabama, and had been a painter.

He is survived by his mother, Mildred Stacey, Monroeville, Ala.; one son, Wayne Stacey, Pa.; one daughter, Rebecca Lynn Warrick, Jay, Fla.; two brothers, W.T. Stacey, Greenville, Ala., and Cecil Stacey, Saraland, Ala.; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Monday, February 18, 2008, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at 11 a.m. at Excel Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Johnson officiating.

Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements.

Jerome Paul Compton, Sr.

Jerome Paul (Jerry) Compton, Sr., age 70, passed away February 15, 2008, after being diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) in August 2007. He was born in Leeds, Alabama, and was a longtime resident of Georgiana, Alabama, where he was an executive (and later co-owner) with Nightingale Uniform Company for more than 40 years. He was the son of Joseph Vidmer Compton, Sr., and Nina Pauline Schrader Compton and was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Mary Lou Compton Burke.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Patricia Anne Blackmon Compton, two children, J. Paul Compton, Jr., Birmingham, Alabama, and Anne Blackmon Compton Burke, Athens, Alabama; their spouses Dana R. Compton and John A. Burke; five grandchildren, J. Radford Burke, Eleanor C. Burke, Catherine J. Compton, J. P. Compton III and Anne S. Compton; two brothers, Joseph V. Compton, Jr., Mobile, Alabama, and William S. Compton, Shelby, Alabama, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Compton attended Berry School for Boys and graduated from Leeds High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Management from the University of Alabama in 1959, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi social fraternity. After graduation, he served as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army. He was active in numerous civic and charitable affairs, serving as president of the Georgiana Kiwanis Club and the Georgiana Chamber of Commerce at various times and was selected as Man of the Year in Georgiana in 1970. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Georgiana for more than 25 years, serving as chairman of the Board of Deacons, among other activities at the church. Most recently, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Montgomery.

A memorial service was held at Johnson’s Funeral Home, Georgiana, Alabama, on Monday, February 18, 2008, at 11 a.m. Dr. Jay Wolf officiated. Visitation at 9 a.m. preceded the memorial service. Graveside services were held at Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Shelby, Alabama, on the same day at 3 p.m.

Pallbearers were Jack Bridges, Ford Burke, David Compton, Lee Compton, Ray Halbert, and Forrest Martin. Honorary pallbearers included Bryant Blackmon, Leroy Flucker, Mark Gruenwood, Foy Gunter, John Hollis, M.D., Bobby Joyner, William Mayo, Alvin Mixon, Jr., Brad Pugh, George Pugh, Sherrill Nichols, Kenny Nixon, Billy Joe Turner, Charles Williams, Robert Williams and Nightingale Uniform Co.’s employees and former employees.
