James Henry Gorum

James Henry &uot;Jimmy&uot; Gorum, age 56, of Brewton, died Saturday, January 5, 2008 at a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2008 at 2 p.m. at Brooks Baptist Church with the Rev. Chad Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in Brooks Baptist Church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Brewton directing. He will lie in repose one hour prior to service time at the church. Visitation will be Thursday, January 10 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Inc.

Mr. Gorum, a native of Covington County, was a longtime resident of McKenzie before moving to Brewton in 1986. He was an honorary member of the Brewton Lion’s Club, an avid, die-hard Auburn and T.R. Miller fan, and was a member of the Appleton Free Will Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Syble Campbell Gorum and a brother, Edward Gorum.

He is survived by: a sister, Charlotte (Mike) Powell of Bay Minette; three brothers, Bobby (Glenda Jane) Gorum of Omaha, Neb., Shelby (Shirley) Gorum of Gantt and Jerry (Donna) Gorum of Red Level; six nieces, Leigh Powell, Selena Furr, Mendy McKenzie, Wendy Bryant and Delissa Gorum; four nephews, LaDon Gorum, Bill Gorum, Johnny Gorum and Jeffrey Gorum; several great-nieces and nephews, and special friends, Dewey, Keith and Chad Cooper and Frank Barnes.
