One of the Camellia City’s dentists moved into new digs this week.

Dr. Bill Hamilton, a Greenville native, has exchanged his longtime Cedar St. office for a location at 106 Fort Dale Road in the old Alabama Power building.

The structure, which has also served as a music business and, most recently, as a storage facility for the Whitney Bank, has undergone extensive remodeling since the project started in March.

&uot;We’ve gone from 1,300 square feet to 3,100 square feet, which is quite a change,&uot; Hamilton said last Thursday, as cleanup continued and his eight employees began to settle into the new office.

The original windows had been blocked in by the bank, so with the replacement of the windows and addition of new electricity and plumbing, &uot;they moved about 25,000 pounds of concrete alone,&uot; Hamilton said.

&uot;Basically, we gutted the building and started over.&uot;

The new office offers a spacious waiting room, large central desk, handicap-accessible facilities and the latest in dental equipment and comfortable chairs for the patients. Contemporary blonde wood storage cabinets and polished wood floors are featured

His staff pronounces their new home &uot;fantastic.&uot;

Hamilton, who will celebrate 30 years in dentistry this fall, will continue his general practice, offering dental services including endodontics, some orthodontics and prosthetics, in the new Church St. location.

&uot;We can usually take care of whomever wakes through the door,&uot; the dentist said with a grin.
