The Achiever Awards for 2007 are slated for this Thursday, May 3 at 6:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Greenville's Family Life Center.

The event is co-sponsored by the YMCA and the Chamber of Commerce.

&#8220We are looking forward to celebrating a memorable evening honoring some of Butler County's finest young people,” said YMCA Director and Achiever Award Chair Amanda Phillips.

28 nominees from Greenville High School, Fort Dale Academy, Georgiana High School and McKenzie High will be recognized and two of the students, one boy and one girl, will each be honored with a $1,500 scholarship as the 2007 Butler County Achiever Award winners.

Guest speaker for the event will be Chett Williams, spiritual advisor to the Auburn University football team.

Tickets are $12 each and can be purchased at the Greenville YMCA.
