Red Sox topple Indians for second win

Game two of the 2007 Dixie Minors season got underway Thursday night with the Indians taking on the Red Sox and the Yankees facing the Braves.

Here are those results:

Red Sox 11, Indians 4

The Red Sox (2-0) scored three runs on the Indians (1-1) in the first inning Thursday and four runs in the fourth to secure the second win of the season, 11-4.

Drake Cabe was a one-man wrecking crew for the Red sox, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and a triple. Cabe also struck out 13 batters in the win.

Also for the Red Sox, Avery Shipp was 2-for-3, Ryan Burkett was 1-for-3 with two runs scored and Joseph Peavy 1-for-3 with one run scored.

Nick Hartley scored two runs while Daniel Hall Autrey Wyatt Young and Colt Reaves each scored one in the win.

For the Indians, Deaton Owens was 2-for-2, Steven Cook was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored and Brandon Blackmon was 1-for-3 with two runs scored.

Chardarrius Davison also scored a run for the Indians.

The Indians will return to action today as they take on the Braves at 10:30 a.m. The Red Sox will take on the Yankees Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Braves 6, Yankees 3

Although the Yankees (0-1) combined to through a no-hitter Thursday, the Braves (1-1) escaped with the victory, 6-3.

For the Braves, Payton Frazier scored two runs while Anthony Dunbar, Dalton Weeks, Josh Sawyer and Will Petty each scored one.

Austin Vickery lead the Yankees with the only hit of the game.

Barrett Bush, Brooks Nelson and Zach Varner each scored a run in the loss.

The Braves will take on the Indians today at 10:30 a.m., and the Yankees will take on the Orioles at 9 a.m.
