Rangers shoot down Nationals

The Dixie Youth Rangers scored three runs in the final inning Tuesday night to break open a 2-2 tie, thus taking the win over the Nationals, 5-2.

Chip Taylor was the leading hitter for the Rangers with a triple, a run scored and an RBI.

Dylan Jones was 1-for-1 with a run scored, Wesley Scott was 1-for-2 with a runs scored, Wilson Lowe was 1-for-2 and Taylor Middleton scored a run in the win.

For the Nationals, Seth Glass was the leading hitter with a 2-for-2 performance, followed by Connally Walters and Davis Crocker each with a hit.

Walters and Matthew Bender also each scored a run.

Jones picked up the win for the Rangers while striking out eight batters.

The Rangers will return to action Tuesday as the take on the Royals at 6 p.m. The Nationals will take on the Orioles at 7:30 p.m.

Orioles 10, Royals 9

Toby King drove in Andy Burns for the winning run Tuesday as the Orioles toppled the Royals in extra innings, 10-9.

King was the leading hitter for the Orioles, finishing with a homerun short of the cycle. King tripled in the first, doubled in the second and singled in the fifth while also scoring two runs during the game.

Cade Tillery was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Caleb Whigham was 2-for-3, Zachary Grider was 1-for-2 and Burns finished 1-for-2 with two runs scored.

Briar Kirby, Bruce Jones, Reginald Bennett, Tristan Moorer and Grider also each scored a run in the win.

For the Royals, Dustin Moorhead was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run scored while Ryan Taylor and Forest Luker each knocked an inside-the-park homerun.

Roscoe Moorhead was 1-for-3 with two runs scored while John Dunn, Timmy Gorum and Demarcus Wilson each scored a run in the loss.

The Orioles will take on the Nationals at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday while the Royals will take on the Rangers at 6 p.m.
