Georgiana police and Butler County Sheriff's deputies executed a series of search warrants early Friday morning that resulted in the arrest of four people on multiple drug trafficking and possession charges.

Officers arrested:

n Teresa Faye Edwards, 28, charging her with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, two counts of distribution and possession of drug paraphernalia.

LaShawa Henderson, 30, charging her with possession of marijuana, 1st, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

n

Lezel Rich, 23, charging him with one count of distribution, possession of marijuana, 1st, and possession of a controlled substance, 2nd.

n

Angela Weaver, 22, charging her with possession of marijuana, 1st.

Law enforcement searched four separate homes in Georgiana located on Washington Ave., McGill Ave., Grace Ave., and Morgan St. Sheriff's deputies and Georgiana police were aided by officers from the River Falls Police Department, the Covington County Sheriff's Department and ABC agents.

The drug raid was the largest ever conducted in the southern Butler County, According to Georgiana Police Chief James Blackmon. Blackmon said approximately 30 officers took part in the search and arrests.

&#8220And we're not going to stop,” said Blackmon. &#8220This is just the beginning.”

Officers seized multiple bags of marijuana, crack cocaine, scales, plastic bags, four handguns, and a large amount of U.S. currency, said Butler County Sheriff Kenny Harden.

Harden said the arrests - which came as part of a month-long undercover investigation - are an example of his office's commitment to launching a &#8220war on drugs” within in the county.

&#8220Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram, Chief Blackmon and I are working together to make Butler County safe,” said Harden. &#8220The people in Georgiana are especially going to see a difference.”

The raid comes three weeks after the BCSD and Georgiana police arrested nine people on warrants for failing to appear in court.

&#8220I strongly urge anyone with outstanding fines that they need to get them cleared up,” said Blackmon.

Both Blackmon and Harden encouraged citizens to report suspicious activity. The identities of those who supply information will be kept confidential, said Harden.
