January 1

n Marlon Jamar Simpson, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault.

n Willie James Hall, 28, was arrested and charged with first-degree theft.

January 4

n Charles Wayne Hughes, 50, was arrested and charged with negotiating a worthless negotiable.

January 5

n Zachary Lee Andress, 19, was arrested and charged with first-degree criminal mischief and possession of burglar's tools.

The following reports were filed through the Butler County Sheriff's Office from January 1 to January 7:

January 1

n A report was filed on Bethel Church road in fort Deposit for reckless endangerment. Someone shot a gun in the air and the bullet came down through a residence.

January 2

n A report was filed on Maple Road in Greenville for second-degree theft. An air conditioning unit worth $2,000 was stolen from outside a residence.

January 3

n A report was filed on Aztec Road in Greenville for second-theft. Two iron gates, three bundles of iron fence posts, one saddle and three salt block holders, all totaling $1,500, were stolen.

n A report was filed at McBride's Hilltop in Greenville for possession of a controlled substance. During a routine traffic stop for a headlight out, crack was discovered in the floorboard of a car.

January 4

n A report was filed on Gipson Road in Greenville for domestic violence- menacing, assault and harassment. A man held a knife to a woman and threatened to kill her if she didn't sign some documents.

n A report was filed on Coach Road in Greenville for a missing person. A woman left a residence and didn't return. The woman eventually returned.

n A report was filed on Poorhouse Road in Greenville for second-degree theft. A man stole eight rods worth $510 and then sold them.

n A report was filed on Farmstead Road in Greenville for third-degree criminal mischief. A mailbox was damaged.

January 6

n A report was filed on Salter Street in Georgiana for harassing communications. A man threatened violence over the telephone.

n A report was filed on Mill Creek Road in Georgiana for a renter's dispute.

n A report was filed on Salter Street in Georgiana for interference with the custody of a child.

n A report was filed on Shadow Lane in Greenville for third-degree domestic violence- harassing communications. A man pushed a woman.

n A report was filed on Sandra Lane in Fort Deposit for third-degree harassment. A man hit and cursed a woman.
