Riggs, I'm gonna die on the toilet.” Although, I've seen plenty of Danny Glover's movies, the &#8220Lethal Weapon” series always stands out. Especially the above line - spoken by Glover to his partner, Detective Martin Riggs, played by Mel Gibson. Glover has awoken one morning to find plastic explosives taped to the back of his toilet. Unfortunately Glover's character - Detective Roger Murtaugh - has already planted his seat on the toilet seat and the explosives are pressure sensitive; if Murtaugh gets up, BOOM! Roll credits.

It was that line running through my head when I had the chance to see Mr. Glover work on Thursday just a block away from The Advocate office. Filming for &#8220Honeydripper” was taking place on the side street beside Greenville Hardware. Glover plays a blues club owner down on his luck in the film, which also stars Charles S. Dutton of &#8220Rudy” and &#8220A Time to Kill” fame. Both men were on hand Thursday and during breaks from filming were able to visit with the small crowd of onlookers that had gathered nearby. Dutton and Glover posed for photographs, signed autographs and were very sociable, shaking hands and offering hugs.

Whether you agree or disagree with Glover's politics, he still remains one of this era's greatest actors. His body of work is astounding. Not only the &#8220Lethal Weapon” series, but &#8220The Color Purple”, &#8220Grand Canyon”, &#8220The Royal Tenenbaums”, and many others. And most don't remember that he starred alongside Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones in &#8220Lonesome Dove”, one of television's best ever miniseries.

The Emmy-winning Dutton had his own series in the early 90s with &#8220Roc”, and has also starred opposite such notable actors as Johnny Depp (&#8220Secret Window”), Halle Berry (&#8220Gothika”), and Sigourney Weaver (&#8220Alien 3”).

Dutton's line in &#8220Rudy” - the true story of an underdog football player who only dreamed of playing for Notre Dame - remains one of the most memorable in the picture. He tells Rudy - played by Sean Astin - that he's &#82205 feet nothing, a hundred and nothing. And you've got hardly a speck of athletic ability … In this lifetime, you don't have to prove nothing to nobody but yourself.”

Like everyone, I'll be anxiously awaiting the release of &#8220Honeydripper.” Not only because of it's being filmed here, but because I thoroughly enjoy the work of the two men who took time out on Thursday to make friends with the people of Greenville.
