In what Fort Dale head coach Reggie Mantooth described as an &#8220embarrassing” performance, the Eagles shot 12-for-72 (17 percent) from the floor and was held off the defensive boards by the visiting Dixie Academy in route to a 47-31 loss to the visiting Rebels.

&#8220We played about as bad as we could in all phases of the game,” Mantooth said. &#8220We pretty much let them have their way with us.”

With the Eagles unable to find their shooting touch from outside, the Rebels stayed packed in a zone the entire game cutting off the inside passing lanes.

&#8220They were bigger than we were and we weren't able to get the ball inside and score or get too many (offensive) rebounds,” Mantooth said.”

The loss dropped the Eagles to 2-3 on the year and Mantooth said, while frustrating, his team has to learn from their mistakes and move on.

&#8220It's just something you have to put out of your mind and try to get better,” he said.

Dixie head coach Braxton Green was ecstatic after the win.

&#8220This is a big win for our little 1-A school,” he said.

Leading 25-13 at the half, the Rebels were able to stretch the lead to 16 by the end of the third quarter and stave off a fourth quarter surge by the Eagles.

&#8220We knew they were going to make a run,” Green said. &#8220When they did, I just told the boys to walk it down and don't shoot unless you were wide open. We had a big lead early and we were able to hold on.”

Casey Weston led the Eagles with 11-points and nine boards.
