Kevin Taylor, 33, is sports editor of Greenville Newspapers and a third generation journalist from east Alabama.

Taylor, who is a 1995 Auburn University graduate in journalism, began his journalism career at the age of 14.

He began covering high school, college and professional events as a correspondent for the Valley Times-News before going to Auburn.

After graduating from Auburn, he joined the Tifton (Ga.) Gazette as a sports writer. Less than a year later, he was named sports editor.

While in Tifton, he covered high schools, Florida State University football and the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Almost five years later, he left Tifton to become sports editor of the Clemson Messenger and the Seneca News-Journal. There he helped lead the paper to grow from a bi-weekly to a daily newspaper in just eight months.

In 1999, he joined the Montgomery Advertiser as a sports copy editor. In less than a year, he was later promoted to assistant sports editor until he decided to become a news writer for the Advertiser in 2004 until he joined to the Advocate in 2005.
