Fort Dale Academy climbs back in at No. 10 among all Alabama Independent School Association schools. The Eagles face unbeaten Mobile Christian this Friday in a key area game.

Bessemer Academy, which shut out Fort Dale 20-0 two weeks ago, remains No. 1 in the AISA.

Last week's expected battle between the top-ranked Rebels and then No. 2 Edgewood wasn’t close as Walter Arrington ran for 270 yards in the 37-7 rout. It was Bessemer Academy’s third straight win this season and 16th straight. Edgewood lost to Bessemer in the AISA Class AAA state finals last season 34-21.

As a result of the loss, Edgewood fell to sixth.

Litle changed in the rest of this week’s high school football rankings as all seven individual class leaders posted impressive wins.

In Class 6A, where top-ranked Hoover (3-0) owns the state’s longest current win streak at 26 wins in a row, the Bucs had no trouble with Florence in a 51-10 rout. The Bucs, also ranked second nationally by USA Today and third by StudentSports magazine’s Fab 50 national poll, have a much more difficult test this Friday against city rival Spain Park (2-1). The game is set for Friday night at Buccaneers Stadium on the HHS campus

Other leaders remaining put were Class 5A Homewood (3-0); Class 4A UMS-Wright (3-0); Class 3A T.R. Miller (3-0); Class 2A Leroy (3-0); and Class 1A Wadley (3-0).

Schedule change

Greenville's non-region game with Wilcox Central has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 24 in Camden.

The game was pushed back so that Wilcox Central could reschedule its game with B.C. Rain, which was postponed due to Hurricane Katrina.
