McWane Center at Library

The McWane Science Center of Birmingham will be at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library on Saturday, August 27th at 11 a.m. for Super Saturday.

They will present &uot;Three Ring Science&uot; and all ages are invited to attend.

Dance Registration

Sonya’s Dance and Fitness will hold registration for new dance classes from 9 a.m. to noon this Saturday, August 27, at the studio located at 213 West Commerce Street. Classes begin September 6. Hunter Education Course

The Alabama Hunter Education course will be offered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources on the Greenville Campus of LBW Community College, Aug. 29 through 31. The course will be from 6 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. each evening. There is no charge to attend this course.

There is no charge for the certification exam.

Participants must be 10 years of age or older to attend the class and receive certification.

Master Cattleman

For those that may be interested, here is a chance for you to learn more about the beef cattle business.

Monroe County Extension Office will host this program conducted by regional Extension agent, Anthony Wiggins.

Beginning October 10, 2005 the class will continue on Monday nights and cover topics including management, forage systems, carcass quality, marketing, reproduction, genetics, nutrition, health and handling, and BQA certification.

21st Century Afterschool Program

The Butler County Board of Education will be offering a 21st Century Afterschool Program for K-8th grade students Monday-Friday until 5 p.m. at W.O. Parmer, Greenville Elementary, and at the Education and Community Center for Greenville Middle School students.

Certified teachers assist with homework and offer learning activities which are fun and educational. Tuition is $25 per month. Registration forms are available at each of the sites.

GHS Child Care

Greenville High School Child Care is accepting applications for the 3-to-4-year-old daycare program for 2005-2006 school year.

Adult education classes ongoing

Adult education classes are now underway for those who need to obtain a GED or strengthen their educational skills. The classes are free and taught on an individualized basis.

Prayer Breakfast

A men's interdenominational prayer breakfast is held each Wednesday at Just Julie's at 7 a.m.

An Evening with Michael Combs, best known for the song "I'm Drinking From My Saucer," to benefit the Fire Fighters Assn., will be held at the Greenville High Auditorium on Saturday, October 1.
