GOSHEN-Mrs. Evelyn Howard Folmar of Goshen, age 96, passed away Monday, June 13, 2005, at Luverne Nursing Facility.

Funeral services will be held at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel in Troy on Thursday, June 16, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend W. O. Sanders and the Rev. David Zorn officiating.

Burial will follow in Green Hills Memorial Park with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the Goshen Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Goshen Baptist Church.

Mrs. Folmar was a lifetime resident of Goshen.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Mr. Max Folmar, her parents, Martha Amanda Richburg and Griffin Buchanan Howard, brothers, Charles (Letha) Howard, W. Edward (Lucy) Howard, H. Roscoe (Mattie) Howard, Griffin B. (Lola) Howard, Jr., and sisters, Bertha H. (Sam) Gibson, Grace H. (Lochran Connor) Nixon, Lucy H. (Grady) Wilson, and Kathleen H. (Clifford) Lawson.

Mrs. Folmar is survived by many nieces and nephews, Joyce H. Stallings, Orlando, Florida, Gertrude H. (Henry) Baker, Auburn, Alabama, Griffin B. (Joan Wells) Howard, III, Dallas, Texas, Edwin (Dorothy) Howard, Murphreesboro, Tennessee, Ralph (Caroline) Howard, Roswell, Georgia, Mildred N. Mallette, Goshen, Alabama, John Howard (Mary) Nixon, Birmingham, Alabama, Martha Jean Hayford, Pensacola, Florida, Ann L. (Ray) Hollub, Northport, Alabama, Tom (Kerry) Lawson, Birmingham, Alabama, Lucy F. Sanders, Goshen, Hazel F. Kieffer, Laurie and Betty Folmar, Jewel and Phil Limbacher, Clarine J. Folmar, all of Texas, Sara Worth S. Huffman, Montgomery, Alabama, Ronald and Della Seymour, Goshen, and a number of great-nieces and nephews and friends.

Mrs. Folmar was educated in the school in Goshen and graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Troy State Teacher's College and taught school in Covington, Crenshaw and Pike counties for 36 years.

An active member in the Goshen Baptist Church, she served as treasurer, principal of Vacation Bible School, Sunday School teacher, and WMU Director for many years.

She was a previous member of several professional organizations, including Delta Kappa Gamma, the Captain Thomas Carter, Sr., Chapter, Daughters of the American Colonists and the Oliver Wiley Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and she held leadership positions in all of them.

After retiring from teaching, she was a volunteer at Edge Memorial Hospital for several years.
