NEWBERRY, S.C.-Emma Brooks Eslava, 82, of Newberry, S.C., died Friday, June 24, 2005.

Graveside services were held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, in McKenzie, with Rev. Charles Matthews officiating and Johnson Funeral Home directing.

Visitation was held from noon until 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, at Johnson Funeral Home in Georgiana.

Mrs. Eslava is survived by one niece, Pat (Eakie) McCullough, of Newberry; one sister, Anne Lucille Kelley, of Westminster County, S.C.; two nephews, Jack (Linda) Blackburn, and Dewayne (Nancy) Blackburn, all of Newberry; one step-daughter, Yvette Sondergard, of Mesa, Arz.; several great-nieces and nephews, and several great-great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Eslava was born September 16, 1922, in Conecuh County.

She was the daughter of the late Richard Noble and Mary Lynch Brooks.

She was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church in Mobile, until she moved to Newberry in 2000.

She then moved her membership to Glenn Street Baptist Church.

She retired from Allen Memorial Nursing Home, in Mobile, as a nursing aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. George E. Eslava Jr.
