McKenzie School’s entrance to its football stadium has a new look.

Shortly after the Quarterback Club announced it had renamed the Tigers’ football stadium to Williams-Vickery Field, plans to have the entrance to the field were made.

Last weekend, the finish product was unveiled.

&uot;There’s nothing else we could have done that would have looked any better,&uot; McKenzie School Principal Randy Williams said. &uot;It looks great and sets the field off. I’m real proud of it.&uot;

In June, the Butler County Board of Education approved the motion to name McKenzie’s football stadium Williams-Vickery Stadium to honor two of the schools biggest supporters. C.P. Williams served as the school’s agriculture teacher from1939 to 1982 and Dwight Vickery graduated from 1953 and began coaching in 1963 before becoming a teacher and later the school’s principal until he retired in 1989.

&uot;When we decided to name the field after Mr. Williams and Mr. Vickery, I felt to honors the two of them we needed something more than just their name on the scoreboard,&uot; Quarterback Club Vice-President Greg Griffin said. &uot;We needed something more impressive to honor them.&uot;

Williams said the Quarterback Clubs efforts in getting the project completed should not go unnoticed.

&uot;The members of the Quarterback Club need to be commended for taking on the project and seeing that it was completed and for all the money that they raised to do it,&uot; he said. &uot;People in the community and friends of McKenzie School for it, the school appreciates that. It’s just a wonderful addition to our school.&uot;

Williams said the new entrance adds to the total appearance of the school. He believes it enhances the beauty of the campus.

&uot;I’m proud of the way our school looks,&uot; Williams said. &uot;I think we’ve got a clean campus, a clean school and this just enhances that.&uot;

The new field will be dedicated during McKenzie’s first home game of the season against Goshen on Sept. 10.

&uot;They’re still in the process of deciding if they’re going to hold it pre-game or at halftime,&uot; Williams said.

Griffin said the naming of the field and building the gate was the &uot;spear head&uot; for other projects the Quarterback Club is planning.

Griffin said there are plans for several improvements throughout the Tigers’ athletic complex. He said one end of the home side bleachers suffers from bad erosion and the club would like to pour a cement slab to put the bleachers on. He said the club would also like to rebuild or build new restrooms at the football stadium.

&uot;Our first project is to repair or replace the restrooms,&uot; he said.

The Quarterback Club also plans to make improvements inside the Tigers’ gymnasium and baseball diamond.
