Outdoor fun, old-fashioned recipes and other southern family traditions will headline the agenda Sunday, July 21, as the 101st Annual Horn Reunion gets underway at the historic Horn Shelter. The Horn Shelter is located in Glenwood on County Road 6, just seven miles southeast of Luverne.

The Horn Family Reunion, held traditionally each third Sunday in July, is one of the oldest consecutive family gatherings in the state of Alabama. The historic Horn Shelter, located in Crenshaw County, has served as the landmark site for this family reunion since 1903.

Relatives and descendants of Richard Whitehead Horn and Rebecca Cox Horn are encouraged to attend this special 101st anniversary summer celebration.

Richard Whitehead Horn and Rebecca Cox Horn settled in what was then known as Pike County in 1826, and later became known as Crenshaw County in 1867.

With this family event scheduled each summer as a special historic gathering, more than 150 relatives travel from throughout Alabama, the Southeast and other nearby regions of the country.

This year's 101st Horn Family Reunion is scheduled to begin at approximately 11 a.m. and conclude around 2 p.m., at the Horn Shelter near Glenwood.

Lunch will be served at noon, with a short business meeting to follow the outdoor picnic.

The Horn Reunion is held each summer at the historic Horn Shelter on the third Sunday in July. Family and friends are welcomed to join in the fun as the Horn Reunion is always a popular summer happening in Crenshaw County.
