The City of Greenville is offering a $3,000 reward for information on who killed Brandon Boggan.

Someone gunned down Boggan at Purdue Village off Purdue Place on Wednesday, June 23.

Boggan was trying to enter his girlfriend's apartment when one or more subjects shot him in the back and retreated into the woods behind the building, as witnesses said.

Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram issued the statement Tuesday stating the city is offering the reward.

"The City of Greenville is offering a reward of $3,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder of Brandon Boggan," he said.

Boggan was the county's sixth homicide, but Greenville's first of 2004.

The police and paramedics were dispatched at 11:59 p.m. to the home of Nykeiliya Jackson, Boggan's girlfriend. On their arrival they found Boggan lying on his back in the doorway of Jackson's apartment.

Police saw where he had been shot in the back.

Neighbors maintain that three men were involved and they ran back into the woods.
