Fun Day at Dunbar Park will be held July 3 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Activities include softball, horseback riding, sack races, basketball, bingo, step shows, tennis and plenty of refreshments. Kids under 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
The City of Greenville will observe the Fourth of July Holiday on Monday, July 5. All city offices will be closed. If your garbage is scheduled for pickup Monday, it will be picked up Tuesday, July 6. All other routes remain the same.
Walnut Street Church of Christ will hold Vacation Bible School July 5 to 9 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The theme this year is "Discovering Bible Treasures" and children of all ages are invited.

The Butler County School System will offer a Substitute Teacher Training Session on Wednesday, July 14 from 9a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Board of Education Office. Mark David Seymour will be at the Greenville-Butler County Public Library Saturday, July 17, at 10 a.m. This is the finale to the summer reading program "Step to the Beat - Read!" All ages are invited and the program is free.
Applicants for the Grassland Reserve Program received through July 23 will be considered during the first funding period. Preservation of native grasses is n objective of this program. For more information, contact the Natural Resources Conservation Service at 382-8538.
