Troy knocks off Greenville, 11-2

Highland Home's Dixie Minor All-Stars bounced back from 12-0 no-hit loss to Troy Americans Friday to claim a 12-2 win over Georgiana Monday night in the Dixie Minor District 9 Sub 3 baseball tournament hosted by Greenville.

Fourteen walks proved to be the difference for Georgiana, which was eliminated from the tournament with the loss.

Kase Kelly slapped a double and scored two runs to lead Highland Home.

Eathen Sexton and Brandon Powell chipped in with one single each. Sexton scored two runs and Powell scored once.

Rodney Cheatham led Georgiana with two singles and one RBI. Derrick Blackburn and Gavin Middleton scored one run each.

Troy 11, Greenville 2

Troy Americans All-Stars displayed its powerful hitting as it served up its second loss of the tournament with an11-2 win over Greenville.

Greenville attempted a comeback in the top of the fourth inning with back-to-back RBI singles from Cade Tillery and Hunter Armstrong, but Troy battled back in the bottom of the inning and tacked on two more runs.

"They played well," Greenville Head Coach Chuck Armstrong. "Troy just had

outstanding pitching on their part. We haven't ever seen any pitching like that at this age. Once they got ahead, we couldn't come back."

Armstrong believes his players will have to play like they practice if they want to advance to the district tournament in Luverne on July 5.

Reid Dickey led Troy with a two-run double. Robert Benton chipped in with an RBI double and Taytom Barnes and Layton Grant added RBI singles. Lawson Stewart finished the night with two singles and scored two runs.

Tillery finished the night with two singles and scored two runs to lead Greenville.

Brantley 14, Georgiana 3

Brantley's Dixie Minor All-Stars took advantage of several walks and

produced some timely hits to pick up a huge 14-3 first-round win over Georgiana Friday afternoon.

Matthew Holmes led Brantley with two singles and one RBI. Clint Kilcrease and Reed Kilcrease each chipped in with an RBI single and scored two runs.

Jonathan Williamson also finished with a single.

Rodney Cheatham led Georgiana with a single and scored one run.

Troy 12, Highland Home 0

Troy Americans pitching staff combined for nine strikeouts, as it no-hit Highland Home 12-0 in the opener of the Dixie Minor District 9 Sub 3 baseball tournament.

Brantley LeCroy led Troy with a two-run single in eight-run second inning.

Layton Grant belted a homer for Tory and Michael Carroll finished with an RBI single. Taytom Barnes also finished with a single.
