All-Star players’ names released
Greenville residents may have noticed an influx of traffic throughout the Camellia City over the weekend.
Mommas and daddies from all over the south loaded up the mini vans and SUVs and headed out to Greenville’s ballparks as sub-district All-Star tournaments began.
&uot;All-Stars has a large impact on the city economically,&uot; Greenville Parks and Recreation Director Jerome Harris said. &uot;We’ve drawn a lot of people into the town over the past week. The comments I’ve been getting back are positive. People said the city has come a long way, which we have.&uot;
Greenville All-Star teams were selected following the regular season closing ceremonies held earlier this month. Over the past couple of weeks, All-Stars in every baseball and softball leagues have been dodging the rain in attempts to squeeze in as many practices as possible in preparation for the sub-district and district tournaments.
&uot;It’s been hard, but the coaches have improvised,&uot; Greenville Parks and Recreation Athletic Director Gregg Fuller said. &uot;They’ve also been real patient with us. They understand that we’re trying to run two tournaments at the same time. Our crews are stretched to the limit because they’re having to work on game fields in preparation for the tournament and don’t have much time to work on the practice fields.&uot;
