A fire consumed a home in the Liberty area early Thursday evening leaving the home at 150 Wedgewood Drive a total loss.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but according to Greenville Fire Chief Mike Phillips, it appears an electrical short caused the blaze.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. E911 dispatched the Liberty Volunteer Fire Department to the scene of the fire.

However, it quickly became apparent they needed help on the scene and GFD was also dispatched and the fire was brought under control.
