L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital introduced Dan Perryman as its new hospital administrator this week.

He takes the helm from interim administrator, Connie Nichols, who will serve as the assistant administrator.

"There's a lot of positive opportunities here for the hospital with the new industries coming in," Perryman said. "From what I've seen so far, they have a great medical staff here."

He said that his first order of business will be to bring in another general surgeon to replace Dr. Wilkinson, who left the hospital's staff a few months ago.

The new administrator said he really likes Greenville, and looks forward to raising his family here.

Perryman said he doesn't think the new industries will create any problems for the current hospital staff. Instead, he looks forward to this opportunity for Stabler's 72-bed hospital to grow.

"Of course, with recruiting we would like to have a consensus with the other doctors," he said. "But that's a good challenge. That's one of the primary reasons this hospital has such a good future."

"We have moved a lot in the last five or six years," Perryman said. "We don't plan on moving again anytime soon. Greenville really grows on you; the more you're here, the more you like it and its Victorian home charm."

Perryman said that his job in Mississippi was in a town of 3,500 people, so he doesn't anticipate a major adjustment being necessary in living here.

"We're well-suited for small towns," he said. "We prefer the small town. It's nice here, because it's situated next to the Interstate, so you have access to a larger town. We're excited about being here."

Perryman comes to Greenville from Decatur, Ala., where he served as assistant chief executive officer of Parkway Medical Center, an 120-bed facility.

After high school, he served in the Navy for six years, leaving the service in 1992. He then attended the University of Iowa, where he obtained his bachelor's degree in political science and a Masters Degree in hospital administration.

He went on to serve a seven-month fellowship at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., and then became the assistant administrator of Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Healthcare Hospital, a 96-bed facility in Middlesboro, Ky.

Perryman's recent experience includes hospital administrator of a 48-bed hospital in Iuka, Miss. for two years.

Perryman's family includes wife, Rachelle, two daughters, Jateum, 15, and Isabella, 19 months, and son, Daniel, 10.
