Angels jump out to early lead in win over Aggies

The Angels pulled out a win against the Aggies in their matchup last Thursday, despite 12 strikeouts from Aggies pitching team of Katie Wilson and Kairee Newton. The Angels’ Nicole Norton came up with the first score for the winged ones in the first inning, moved around by hits from Tamara Truitt and Sarah Roper.

In the second inning, the Angels garnered three more runs when Susan Nimmer, Jasmine Truitt and Te’Lesha McDonald made it home.

The Aggies remained scoreless until the third inning when Chandler Luckie claimed a homerun.

The Aggies managed another run in the fourth as Kairee Newton made her play for home plate and was successful.

The Angels slowed down in the third with no scores, but came back to add three more in the fourth and fifth innings with runs by Sarah Roper, Norton and McDonald and clinch their win, 7-2.

Slammers win over Patriots

In a tough test of wills, the Midget’s Slammers came up with another win, last Thursday, taking down the Patriots, 8-6.

The Slammers kept their bats swinging throughout the game to stay on top.

Whitney Jacks’ homerun in the top of the third inning kickstarted the Slammers’ attack, followed by runs from Erin Taylor, Kayla Alexander and Kayla Johnson.

The Patriots didn’t take off until the fourth inning when a scoring flurry by Lauren Christ, Shawnee Morrison, Alyssa Gibson, Lauren Owens, Abbey Martin and Evyn Fuller gave the Patriots their six points for the night.

The Slammers also came through with scores in the fourth – Taylor, Beth Hyatt, Johnson and Jessica Bush all crossed the plate, pushing the Slammers score up to eight.

Both teams ran dry in the fifth, giving the Slammers with the win, 8-6.
