The Georgiana Panthers pulled out a win over their cross-county rivals, the McKenzie Tigers, Thursday afternoon, 6-5, after Cory Nelson made a double play to stopped the Tiger's last attempt to regain the lead.

In the first match-up of these teams earlier this year, the Tigers shut-out the Panthers 10-0 in five innings, this time the game was much closer.

The Tiger's pitcher, Russell Davison, walked Panther Justin Marsh in on the first inning giving the Panthers the first score. The Tigers came back in the fourth inning with Davison and Eric Gomillion scoring to give the Tigers a 2-1 lead.

The lead swapped again in the fifth inning to the Panthers as Justin Marsh, Cory Nelson and Stewart Crittenden each came in for a score to make it 4-2, Panthers.

McKenzie started off the sixth inning with Davison hitting a double followed by Gomillion getting on with a double and Aaron Cox knock one over the centerfield gate for a three run homer to take the lead back for the Tigers, 5-4.

The Panthers weren't done, however, and Loren Jones and Cory Nelson came in after Stewart Crittenden put one to the gate

to give the lead to the Panthers again, 6-5.

&uot;Georgiana's improve quite a bit since the first time we faced them,&uot; Head Coach Eartis Lee said. &uot;We kept up with them but they stay on us. This rain lately has really cut a lot of our playing experience out.&uot;

The Tigers are 1-3 with their only win against Georgiana earlier. They will play on the road at J.F. Shields April 1.

The Panthers will host Luverne Monday at 3:30.
