It’s time! Break out your No. 2 pencils and get ready to fill out those much-anticipated Hyundai job applications.

The applications are available through the Alabama State Employment Service, but there are some specific requirements for requesting, filling out and sending in those applications.

For example, there are two main divisions that will be hiring at Hyundai: Production and Maintenance. In order to apply for a position in a desired division, you must request that application.

To get a Production application, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Production Alabama State Employment Service, P.O. Box 20530, Montgomery, AL 36120-0530.

To get a Maintenance application, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Maintenance Alabama State Employment Service, P.O. Box 20500, Montgomery, AL 36120-0500.

Employment service representatives stress the importance of including the self-addressed STAMPED envelope. You must include the envelope, and it must be stamped, or the request will be tossed out.

Secondly, there are specific requirements for applying. According to the ASES website, all applicants (for Production and Maintenance) must have a high school diploma or GED.

The applicants also will have to verify their work history. Production division applicants must have a two-year work history with no unexplained gaps; Maintenance division applicants must have a five-year work history with no unexplained gaps.

Once filled out, the applications must be mailed no later than March 23. Any application with a postmark after March 23, will not be accepted.

The requirement list goes on, and for many, is quite confusing.

To help offset the confusion, Central Alabama OIC, Job Corp of Montgomery and Trenholm State Technical College have joined forces to offer the Automotive Application Information and Education Workshop.

The workshops are designed to show interested applicants the ABCs of filling out an application successfully.

&uot;We are taking a proactive role in assisting applicants throughout the community who may not fully understand how to successfully complete the automotive application,&uot; said Trenholm Tech President Dr. Anthony Molina. &uot;We want to simplify the process and make it uncomplicated for applicants to be given a fair chance at getting to the next level with Hyundai and its major suppliers.&uot;

An application workshop will be held locally at the Greenville YMCA, Saturday, March 15 from 9-10 a.m.

There is no registration required to attend the workshop, according to YMCA’s Cindy Watkins.

&uot;They just need to show up,&uot; Watkins said. &uot;They don’t have to bring anything with them.&uot;

Watkins stressed that Hyundai applications will not be available at this workshop.

&uot;This is strictly an information workshop that will explain to them what’s necessary to properly fill out and submit the application to the employment service,&uot; she said. &uot;They won’t be taking applications or interviewing anyone during these meetings.&uot;

Hyundai will be hiring 1,600 production and maintenance workers, with production jobs offering a pay range of $14 to $21 per hour, and maintenance jobs offering $18 to $24 per hour.

Phyllis Wesley of Alabama Industrial Development Training said that although there have been a few people who have had trouble following the details of the application process, there have been more than 10,000 applications accepted.

&uot;I hope these workshops emphasize all the opportunities people have to get themselves ready for employment, not only with Hyundai or its suppliers, but also with existing companies that may need to replace current employees who get the auto jobs,&uot; Wesley said.
