Since the announcement nearly 11 months ago that a major international automotive manufacturer will locate only 25 miles from Greenville, speculation has run rampant about what the job prospects for our residents and neighbors will be like.

In recent months we've seen additional announcements in Montgomery County, Crenshaw County, Macon County and Coffee County, altogether totaling nearly 3,000 new jobs well within driving distance for residents who are seeking gainful employment who can continue to live in Butler County and remain close to family and friends.

While many of the suppliers have not yet started accepting applications, the main location has and the Alabama State Employment Service is holding a workshop in Greenville March 15 to give local residents the information they need to put their name in the hat for one of these potentially lucrative jobs. Published reports have indicated that hundreds of applications already received by the ASES have been discarded due to the applicant not correctly filling out the application. The workshop, to be held at the Greenville YMCA from 9 to 10 a.m., will not be a place to file an application; rather it will be an informative session on how to correctly apply for the 2,000 jobs with pay scales ranging from $14 to $24 per hour.

We strongly encourage those who are interested to attend the workshop and invest the time needed to familiarize yourself with the application process.
