Behind a stellar performance from senior Leonard Scott the Calhoun Tigers won the season series with Greenville 98-97 in double overtime. Scott, who posted a triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 15 blocks, never thought his team was out of the game, even with his team winning by two and 1.1 seconds on the clock and Greenville at the line shooting three free throws.

&uot;I was a little nervous,&uot; said a happy but worn out Scott after the game. &uot;But coach told us big time players make big time plays in pressure situations. Greenville played an excellent game. It was just a battle we won this time.&uot;

As it turned out, Greenville's Tresmendous McMeans hit two of the three free throws to send the game into overtime. The first overtime that is.

In the first overtime Greenville was able to run to a three-point lead but after trading baskets Calhoun stole a Greenville pas and hit a layup to tie the game at 83 and send it into the second overtime.

In the second overtime Greenville's T. McMeans was fouled after dunking over a Calhoun player and made his free throw to give Greenville a four point lead, but Calhoun fought back using good work on the boards to take a three point lead after Calhoun's Chris Taylor made two free throws giving Calhoun a 97-94 lead.

With 5.9 seconds remaining and Greenville in possession of the ball under their own goal, Calhoun coach Jim Hunter, who is in his seventh year with the Tigers, called a timeout. During the break he told his team to back away to the three-point line and give Greenville the easy two if they would take it. They did and Calhoun held the ball on the inbounds play as time expired.

&uot;You get five seconds on the inbound play after a basket,&uot; said Hunter, who said he hoped Greenville would fall for the strategy. &uot;It was a well played game and its too bad one team had to lose, but I'm glad we won.&uot;

Greenville head coach Randy Fullington said his team had plenty of opportunities to put Calhoun away, but simply lost concentration in the final seconds.

&uot;I told the guys we fell for one of the oldest tricks in the book,&uot; he said. &uot;When they came out and took the three away, my guys just reacted and threw the ball in and scored. Coach Hunter is a good coach. I wouldn't have expected anything less from him.&uot;

J.C. Anderson led the way for Greenville with 21 points with McMeans hitting for 20, Devoski McMeans and Curtis Fields each scoring 15, Kendron Pate scoring 11 and Andrew Tomlin scoring 10.

In addition to Scott's big-time performance, Chris Taylor led Calhoun with 30 point and 12 rebounds with Kelvin Caldwell scoring 12 points and Jerry Hinson scoring 10 points.
