The Fort Dale Lady Eagles notched three more wins this past week, with two of them coming against ranked teams, and kept their record undefeated in area play.

The Lady Eagles (13-5, 4-0) first tackled the Morgan Lady Senators with sophomore Laura Skipper leading the way with 14 points.

Morgan was ranked in the top 10, but committed 20 turnovers in the 44-36 loss.

&uot;The turnovers were the difference in the game,&uot; said Lady Senators' head coach Rick Blevins. &uot;We tried to pound the ball inside and when we didn't hit our shots we ended up having to play everything from out on the perimeter. We average about 48 points a game but they put pressure on our guards and our inside folks and we just couldn't handle it.&uot;

Lady Eagles head coach Reggie Mantooth said his team knew what they had to do going in, especially since both teams were 2-0 in area play prior to the game.

&uot;We knew it was a big game for us going in,&uot; he said.

In past games the Lady Eagles have had problems handling the opposition's full-court press, but not this time.

&uot;We tried to work on the things that had given us problems in the past,&uot; Mantooth said. &uot;Their pressure defense didn't affect us at all since we spent most of the week working on it.&uot;

Others scoring for the Lady Eagles were Wesley Atkins with 11 points, Frances Watts with nine points and Stephanie Hood with six points.

Morgan was led by Emily Johnson with 12 points and Hayden Casey with 11 points.

Lady Eagles 52, Lady Warriors 43

The winning ways continued Saturday for the Lady Eagles as they traveled to Mobile to take on the Cottage Hill Lady Warriors, who were ranked tenth in the latest Alabama Sports Writer's Poll. The ranking didn't mean much though as the Lady Eagles came back from a 12-point deficit at the half to take a 52-43 win, with Laura Skipper pacing the Lady Eagles with 26 points and eight rebounds. She also had two assists and two steals.

Head coach Reggie Mantooth said it looks like his Lady Eagles are starting to gel just in time for the season ending run, and that sophomore Wesley Atkins, who had 14 points in the win, has been key the last few games.

&uot;I think she's getting a little more confidence,&uot; he said. &uot;Being a sophomore she doesn't have much experience.
