Approximately 150 Greenville residents gathered at Sherling Lake Park last Saturday to welcome hometown candidate Beth Chapman, Republican nominee for State Auditor and Public Service Commissioner George Wallace, Jr. to town.

Among those in attendance were family members, former teachers, employers, coaches, church leaders and childhood friends of Chapman's.

Chapman and Wallace spoke to the crowd about the need for change in Montgomery and the issues of good government.

&uot;I make only one campaign promise,&uot; Chapman (formerly Beth Killough of Greenville) said, and that's honesty and integrity in government.

If you elect me and I don't serve you with honesty and integrity in government, then I hope you'll fire me and send me home.

Because I believe if we'd fired more people in Montgomery, our state wouldn't be in the shape it's in today.&uot;

Wallace spoke of his family's long-time service and affection for Alabamians.

He spoke of the need for honesty in all facets of government and the need to have public servants willing to diligently serve the people of our great state.

&uot;I am thrilled to see so many people from my hometown and to know that I have their support,&uot; Chapman said.

&uot;The people of Butler County are independent thinkers and a cross section of grassroots Alabama.

They represent conservative values and I believe they will be inclined to vote for the person who best knows their needs and represents their values.&uot;

Chapman said it was good to get back &uot;home&uot; to Butler County.

&uot;I have never forgotten my roots, and my roots are in Butler County,&uot; she said.

&uot;It's where I was born, raised and educated.

It means a great deal to me to have the support of the people here.&uot;

Beth Chapman, formerly Beth Killough graduated from Fort Dale Academy.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Montevallo and her Master's Degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Magna Cum Laude.

She has worked on the executive staffs of both a Governor and Lt. Governor and owns and operates her own business, Beth Chapman and Associates, LLC.

Chapman defeated three opponents to win the Republican Nomination for State Auditor.

She and her husband James have two sons and reside in Shelby County.
