The Fraternal Order of Police (F.O.P.) South Central Lodge 39 and the Greenville Rotary Club sponsored a golf tournament June 19 at Cambrian Ridge to raise money for two local charities.

The tournament proceeds went to the Greenville YMCA and the Butler County Junior Miss Program and checks were presented to those organizations Wednesday. The tournament raised $2,937 and first place team members were Rice McGowin, Jim McGowin, Al Landwehr and John Sherling.

Vehicles were donated by Greenville Motor Company and Norman Blackmon Motor Company as hole-in-one prizes and several other businesses and individuals donated to the event. Greenville Police Lt. Mark Harold said he would like to thank all those individuals and businesses for their donations, and all those who participated in the tournament.

"I would like to thank the participants and those who made donations to the event," Harold said. "Even though we got rained out, I think everyone enjoyed the golf, food and fellowship."

Harold said a special thanks to the Camellia Girls and Chamber Pages for their efforts in helping with the tournament, and that plans are already underway for next year's tournament.

"We are looking forward to next year's tournament and we expect it to be bigger and better," Harold said. "With all the help from the citizens and sponsors, I know it will be another big success."
