For approximately three months, city and county officials have been working feverishly to recruit Hyundai suppliers to this area. From billboards to city tours, officials and residents are working to show that Butler County is open for business and are looking forward to welcoming new citizens.

On Monday, Mayor Pro Tem Steve Norman recommended to the Greenville City Council that we approve a project that will better our community through communication. This communication will include a state-of-the-art web site, coaching on better business skills and tips from a South Korean native who currently lives in Alabama.

It is of the utmost importance that all residents and officials be in agreement, supportive and open-minded about new ways to make our city and county a better place. One of those ways is through jobs.

It also is pertinent that we all show that not only are we hopeful of welcoming new residents, but also new businesses that can help not only our community but the State of Alabama.

The initial phase of the marketing plan will cost the City of Greenville $25,000. However, it is a one-time expense that can be used for all times. This project is one of the best ideas that has been presented to the council thus far in the recruitment of suppliers. It will give us an opportunity to show what a great place our county is and that we are willing to do whatever is possible to make it an even better place to live.

It is a tool that is essential in moving toward the future, especially through the web site that will enable those overseas to have a glimpse of the Camellia City

a place we are fortunate to see on a daily basis.

A marketing plan like this will show that we are willing to move toward the future, and that the doors to Butler County are open for business and for new neighbors.
