As new evidence has been found in the murder of William Parmer Creech, who was found dead in his home January 29, officials would like to remind citizens there is still a $5,000 reward offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the case.

Butler County Sheriff Diane Harris said that new evidence has come to light in the case and she is hoping an arrest will soon be possible.

"The Creech case is still being investigated and we have had some new evidence to come our way and we want to still remind the people that there is that $5,000 reward," she said.

Harris said she is not yet sure how quickly an arrest will be made, but is hoping it will be soon.

"I'm not saying that we are going to make an arrest within the next week or two," she said. "I am just going to make sure everything is together before we do make an arrest."

Harris said several people have been questioned about the case and that others will be questioned soon.

"We are still talking to different people," she said. "There are supposed to be some new people that we will be talking to within the next week or two about this case. I feel like these people will be able to shed a whole lot of light on it."

Harris said the new evidence will be helpful in solving the case, but there are still questions that remain unanswered and all elements must come together in order for officials to reach a solution in this instance.

"With this new evidence, I feel like it's like a puzzle. There are pieces of the puzzle that remain out of place. After we get through with it, we will be able to put the puzzle together and make an arrest."

The case is still being investigated by the Butler County Sheriff's Office and the Alabama Bureau of Investigations.
