As the old saying goes, &uot;times they are a-changing&uot;, especially here in Greenville.

In recent years, the Camellia City has faced some changes with the renovations of downtown and the historic Ritz Theatre, the expansion of the airport, the addition of the new Greenville High School and the up and coming new Butler County Industrial Park.

The announcement that Hyundai also will be locating in this area has brought further excitement and the hope of economic development and new jobs to the county.

The staff of the Advocate decided that with all the new changes, it was time for the newspaper also to have a new look.

One criteria for the new design has been to make the paper easier to read. We want the readers of the community to know that this column for instance, will always be on the same page in the same location, as will the weddings, obituaries and school news.

A second goal we want to accomplish is to provide more news in the same amount of space. We basically have condensed such things as the calendar, known by most as Butler Bulletins, and the records of the county, such as the police reports. In addition, we also will begin providing on a regular basis information concerning divorces and land transactions. This will enable the Advocate to be the county’s one-stop source for news.

Along with these additions, we have plans to also enhance our editorial content. One of the pleasures of living in a small town is that residents are able to give back to the community and see the benefits of their giving. Civic organizations are only a group of people who give back, and editorially, we feel they should be recognized.

This year, we also began running a section called &uot;School News&uot; and the feedback from that has been nothing more than awesome. This section has allowed us to spotlight all children in the area, on a weekly basis, who one day will be leaders of the community.
