A two-day Alabama Independent School Association (AISA) golf tournament was held Monday and Tuesday at Cambrian Ridge in Greenville.

AISA Athletic Director Don Hand said the tournament is a team and individual competition, held concurrently over the two-day period. State champions were announced yesterday after the tournament.

Glenwood Academy took home the state championship with an overall score for the tournament at 611. Tuscaloosa Academy was the state runner-up with a score of 618. Morgan Academy placed third and Edgewood Academy placed fourth.

The state individual low medalist for Monday's competition was Ryan Skantz of Wilcox Academy, who shot a 71 during the first day of competition. Skantz also took home all-state honors with his final score for the entire competition at 148.

Greenville golfers participating in the tournament included Brooks Moore of Greenville Academy, who finished the tourney with a 159; Adam Moore of Greenville Academy, who shot a 179; Ryan Joseph of Fort Dale Academy, who finished with a 192, and Mason Bass of Fort Dale Academy, who scored a 185 for the tourney.

According to Hand, AISA chose Cambrian Ridge for this year's tournament and he was very pleased with the hospitality of all who helped host the event.

"I appreciate the Alabama Golf Association and their incredible staff," Hand said. "I also would like to thank Sean Curry and everyone at Cambrian for their hospitality in hosting this event. They have all been the perfect hosts."

Hand said the course at Cambrian is a "tough course" but he was impressed with the abilities and talents of the golfers and teams.
