The wearin' of the green' will be seen at Greenville's Confederate Park on Saturday, March 16 with a Saint Paddy's Day in the Park' celebration. The event, sponsored by Greenville Main Street, is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with plenty of fun for all ages.

"We have live entertainment and karaoke planned, and exhibits from the Fine Arts League and other local artists will be on display…and there will be lots of fun green' holiday art activities for the kids," says Main Street's Nancy Idland.

A storyteller will also be on hand to spin yarns from the Emerald Isle of Ireland, birthplace of the man for whom Saint Patrick's Day (officially celebrated on March 17) is named.

Everyone is encouraged to deck themselves out in their silliest green outfits and vie for prizes in the Saint Paddy's Costume Contest, but Idland promises "we will have a little something green to hand out to all who attend so they won't get the customary Saint Paddy's pinch."

All event activities are free but box lunches will be available for purchase.

To reserve a lunch, it's suggested individuals contact Main Street's Jill Stallworth at 382-9597.

"We hope everyone will come on out and join us for another great event from Greenville Main Street," Idland says. For further information, contact Idland at 382-3041.
