On Monday, members of the Butler County Commission will get an update on the progress of

of several public roads which have been approved for construction as part of a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

The purpose of the CDBG grant is to provide funds for repairs to roads, such as water and sewer lines as well as paving, to areas that are considered low-income. The $500,000 grant requires only a $50,000 match from the county.

According to County Engineer Dennis McCall one road, Hermitage Road, which is located in the Edgeview Heights community, is already completed. McCall also said that construction on Boswell Boulevard is tentatively scheduled to begin in January and Poole Road is tentatively scheduled to begin in March.

In other news, Malloy Chandler, chairman of the Butler County Industrial Development Authority, is scheduled to speak with the commission concerning a resolution for bond issuance for the BCIDA. A public hearing was held Monday to discuss the issue and the commission will vote on it next Monday.

The commission also discussed the drug and alcohol policy for county employees at the workshop. Commissioner William Phillips told members of the commission that his concern was the portion concerning the searching of private vehicles. The commission will vote on the issue at Monday's meeting.

The commission also discussed amending the gasoline fund budget for $109,000 due to the purchase of a loader. In addition, the commission must also vote on a resolution to borrow the funds for the loader from People's Bank & Trust. The payments for the new piece of equipment, according to McCall will be annual payments for the next three years.

Also on Monday, the commission will:

vote on the rescheduling of a public hearing for redistricting from December 3 to December 13;

vote on amending the sick leave portion of the personnel policy to include sons and daughters;

vote on an off-premises beer license application for Linda Burgans in District 1;

vote on providing county employees with an additional half-day on Dec. 26 for Christmas holidays, as county employees normally work only a half-day on Wednesdays;

the approval of the minutes of the November meeting;

discuss Co. Rd. 7 in Mt. Pisgah which was brought by Commissioner Gary Hanks.

The commission also will hear the jail report and the engineer's report.
