In continuing efforts against the war on drugs in the community, the Greenville Police Department recently executed a search warrant at a Greenville residence and seized a large quantity of drugs.

"Subsequent to ongoing efforts by our narcotics investigative division, we were able to obtain and execute a search warrant at 110 Crenshaw Street," said Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram. "When officers arrived at the location at 11 p.m. on Oct. 14, a search was conducted and a large quantity of drugs and paraphernalia were seized."

Ingram said this operation resulted from investigative efforts by his narcotics officers.

"We received reliable information, sufficient in nature to obtain a search warrant for the purpose of searching for drugs in the residence," Ingram said. "During the search officers located a plastic bag containing one ounce of crack cocaine, and three plastic bags each containing one ounce of marijuana."

Ingram said in addition to the drugs, two scales used for the weighing of drugs also were seized.

"Although no suspects were present at the residence during the time of the search, we are currently holding arrest warrants against two suspects, charging them with unlawful possession of marijuana, firs degree, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia," Ingram said on Friday.

Ingram praised his officers, and was also grateful for assistance in the search from deputies of the Butler County Sheriff's Office.

"We are certainly happy to have been able to get these drugs before they got onto the streets," Ingram said. "This is one more example of law enforcement agencies in Butler County working together to fight the drug problem in our communities.

As of Monday, Oct. 22 the suspects remained at-large.
