Eagles soar over Rebels, 34-6

The Ft. Dale Academy Eagles, covering nearly 2-1/2 times as many yards as the Lowndes Academy Rebels, nearly shut the Rebels out during the Eagles' homecoming game.

It was late in the first quarter when Ft. Dale broke the scoring silence on a Josh Till 31-yard run touchdown with 1:46 remaining on the clock.

Clint Philpot stepped up with the point-after kick and the score was 7-0, Eagles, following a four-play 60-yard drive.

Down into the second quarter, with just :55 remaining to the half Ryan Landwehr scored on a 40-yard quick-pitch. The PAT failed, and the score following a two-play 56-yard drive was Ft. Dale 13, Lowndes Academy 0.

The Eagles again advanced halfway through the third, when with 7:17 on the clock, Ryan Landwehr scored on a two-yard run, followed by a Philpot PAT, and the tally was Eagles 20, Rebels 0. This was a seven-play 56-yard drive.

Crucial turnover number one came with 6:30 in the third when Landwehr blocked a Rebel punt, which was recovered on the Lowndes 16-yard line.

The resulting drive yielded Ft. Dale another TD when Joey Hambric scored on a two-yard run, followed by a Philpot PAT, making the score 27-0 Eagles, with 5:11 remaining in the third quarter.

Lowndes finally scored in the fourth quarter when, with 10 minutes left in the game they came through with a two-yard pass. Jeremy Viers blocked the PAT kick, and the score was Eagles 27, Rebels 6, after a 12-play 78-yard drive.

The Eagles persevered when with 2:50 remaining in the game Joseph Ryan scored on a 25-yard run, followed by a Philpot PAT, ending a three-play, 31-yard drive, which was setup by a phenomenal and right-on-time Evan Brock interception, to set the final score of the night at Ft. Dale 34, Lowndes Academy 6.

Ryan Landwehr led the Eagles' offense with nine carries for 110 yards and two touchdowns, followed by quarterback Josh Till with four carries for 60 yards and one TD. Then it was Joey Hambrick with eight carries bringing 59 yards and one TD, followed by Joseph Ryan with seven carries yielding 47 yards and one TD.

Till threw three for eight pass completions for 31 yards.

On the defensive side of the game, Evan Brock led the Eagles with 13 solo tackles and one interception, followed by Digger Kimbro with 13 solos, and Garrett Luckie with 10.

Ty Langston made two interceptions, and both David Johnson and Miles Hulick notched a sack.

The Eagles produced 13 first downs to the eight of the Rebels.

Ft. Dale moved the ball for 327 yards total, 296 from rushing and 31 from passing, while Lowndes totaled 137 yards, 125 in passing and 12 yards in rushing.

The Rebels were 10 for 19 on pass completions.
