After days of crunch time, we finally finished. The last minutes of running around to get photos, the late nights of endless amounts of caffeine and tired eyes…we made it. The Greenville Magazine has now hit the stands.

One of the major reasons why The Greenville Advocate publishes the magazine is to serve as a guide to the community. It provides information on everything from local churches to local government to local activities. Primarily, to give the locals information that is local.

Upon moving here, many new residents may not know about the Front Street Pub, the Watermelon Jubilee or even Cambrian Ridge Golf Course.

It also is a publication that shows the pride of Greenville through pictures. From the historic homes to the new manufacturing industries, the variety of articles that fill the magazine is a true picture of the variety of people that live in the Camellia City.

This year’s focus was the eleven criteria that led Greenville to becoming the &uot;best small town in the United States.&uot; From a feature on the history of the First United Methodist Church to a profile on one of Greenville’s longest residents, Greenville magazine paints a picture of the town.

The amount of information that could have been published in the magazine is never ended. In fact, the magazine could have been filled with just the history of Greenville — its homes, government buildings and even just the people that have an impact on the city.

It’s easy to publish any old magazine. But it’s rewarding when it is a magazine that serves people that you work with everyday and that have a love for the city and its people. But on the other hand that makes it even harder because creating a magazine that people are proud of becomes a factor. Every article that is placed, every photo that is taken — there’s the constant wonder of whether readers will have a personal memory of a photo that is placed in a magazine.

All in all, we here at the Advocate hope the community enjoys the magazine as much as we love providing to you.

After all, there’s only one best small town and luckily, we all live here.
