This Sunday Greenville residents can spend their evening spitting watermelon seeds, running through an obstacle course, or relaxing under a fireworks display at First Assembly of God's fourth annual Jubilee Explosion. This year, the congregation is "Invading the Darkness" with its biggest fireworks display yet. Visitors also will enjoy free barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon and ice cream. not only our American independence, but our spiritual independence," said Pastor Lane Simmons. "We feel that the church has been too quiet on letting the community know that our concerns are for them, and this is a way to let the communities know we want to reach them. We encourage all to bring the family and enjoy our heritage." The celebration will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a demonstration of military artillery, skits, singing and door prizes. There also will be games for the kids such as ducks in a pond and face painting along with a special appearance by the "Military Dog." First Assembly of God is located at 760 N.
